The quick answer

Barcelona–El Prat Airport is about 15 km south-west of the city centre. Your four main options are a taxi, the Aerobus, the metro (line L9 Sud) and the Rodalies train. A taxi is the fastest and easiest — especially with luggage or a group; public transport is cheaper but slower, with stairs, changes and walking.

Public-transport prices change — check TMB and Renfe for current fares. Taxi fares are on the official meter.

Taxi — fastest and easiest

A taxi takes you straight from the terminal door to your hotel in about 25–35 minutes, with no changes or stairs. It is the best choice with suitcases, as a family or group, or for a late-night arrival when public transport is reduced. Barcelona taxis run on the official meter plus a fixed airport supplement; a ride to the centre is usually around €35–40. Pre-book with us and your driver tracks your flight and waits in arrivals with a name sign.

Aerobus — direct bus to Plaça de Catalunya

The Aerobus is an express bus from T1 and T2 to Plaça de Catalunya, with a few central stops. It runs frequently and takes about 35 minutes, but you still need to get from the stop to your hotel, and luggage space is limited at busy times.

Metro L9 Sud — cheapest, but slower

Metro line L9 Sud connects both terminals to the city, but it does not reach the very centre directly — you usually change lines, which means stairs and walking with your bags. It needs a special airport ticket (ordinary T-casual tickets are not valid to or from the airport).

Rodalies train — from T2 only

The Rodalies R2 Nord train runs from Terminal 2 to central stations such as Barcelona Sants and Passeig de Gràcia in about 25–30 minutes. It is cheap, but only serves T2 — from T1 you first take the free shuttle bus to T2, which adds time.

Which should you choose?

For the simplest, fastest door-to-door trip — especially with luggage, children or a group, or for a late arrival — take a taxi. Travelling light, on a budget and not in a hurry? The Aerobus or train are good value. For a taxi, send us your flight and get an approximate price on WhatsApp before you book.
