Most big ships dock at the Moll Adossat terminals (A, B, C, D and E). Between these terminals and the airport the AMB sets an official final price of €46 for 1–4 passengers, so you know the price in advance. The drive takes about 20 minutes without traffic. From the World Trade Center terminals, next to the city centre, the taxi uses the normal meter.

You can take a taxi from the rank at the terminal, or pre-book one so the driver is waiting when you come off the ship. Pre-booking is handy for families, groups with lots of luggage or anyone who needs a 7- or 8-seat vehicle.

By bus

A shuttle bus connects the cruise terminals with the Columbus monument (Colom) at the bottom of Las Ramblas. From there you can continue into the city and take the Aerobús airport bus from Plaça de Catalunya or Plaça d'Espanya. It is cheaper but slower, and harder with big suitcases.

How much time to allow

• Disembarkation usually happens in the morning, in groups, and can take a few hours on large ships.
• Plan for about 2 hours at the airport for European flights and 3 hours for long-haul flights.
• For a same-day flight, many travellers choose departures after midday to be safe.
